On the south-western coast of India lies the state of Kerala; a land of spices, tea and teak plantations, and coconut groves. Immerse yourself in Cochin’s fascinating history that saw the likes of Vasco da Gama and other early explorers plant a foothold in India. Enjoy the beautiful Western Ghats Mountains that rise inland from the Arabian Sea when visiting plantations in a hill station. Spend time appreciating the great bio-diversity while taking boat rides and guided walks through the bird and animal-filled Periyar National Park. This sublime journey finishes in the backwaters of relaxing Kumarakom where you’ll enjoy staying on board a typical and luxurious houseboat; drinking in Kerala’s special ambiance.
Our morning sightseeing tour of Cochin includes visiting the Mattancherry Dutch Palace, St Francis Church and the Jewish Synagogue then to see the iconic Chinese Fishing nets that are still in use on the Arabian Sea coast. The afternoon is at leisure allowing time to explore on your own before enjoying a live performance at Kathkali Dance theatre this evening.
