This extraordinary itinerary is your opportunity to explore the best of the South India. After starting in Bangalore, India’s IT hub; where culture and ancient traditions live side by side with a fast-paced modern life, we move on to marvel at the skilled craftsmanship of the sculpted temples of Belur and Halebid in Hassan. Then we spend time in the delightful city of Mysore, filled with some of Karnataka’s greatest palaces and temples. Next we’ll take you to two well-conserved national parks; Nagarhole and Bandipur where the local wildlife includes Asian Wild Elephants, tigers, leopards, sloth bear and not to mention hundreds of wonderful birds.

One of the highlights will be experiencing the hill retreat in Ooty where you will have opportunity to ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway and enjoy the scenic beauty of this lush, mountainous countryside. Finally, we enter the state of Kerala; a land of spices, tea and teak plantations and coconut groves. In Cochin, you will be immersed in its fascinating history before finishing this sublime journey on board a typical houseboat in the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey where you will drink in Kerala’s special ambiance. ITINERARY | PREFERRED HOTELS

Day 1

ARRIVE BANGALORE

Arriving at Bangalore’s International Airport you are greeted by our staff who will transfer you to your hotel. The balance of the day is free to relax.

Day 2

BANGALORE

Following breakfast, enjoy a full day guided tour of Bangalore City. Out first photo stop today will be at iconic Vidhan Soudha, the impressive state’s legislative assembly building followed by a visit to Lal Bagh Gardens. Later in the afternoon visit Doda Ganesh and Bull temple and before finishing the day with a visit to Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace.

Day 3

BANGALORE -HASSAN

This morning we set off to Hassan. After checking into the hotel on arrival, the afternoon’s excursion will be to Belur and Halebid to see the amazing and beautiful carvings on the temple, considered to be the masterpieces of Indian art and architecture built during Hoysala dynasty.

Day 4

HASSAN -MYSORE

Today, we drive to Mysore and en route visit Srvanabelagola, to see the gigantic statue of Lord Bahubali.  Upon arrival at Mysore, check into the hotel.  In the afternoon visit one of the most beautiful palaces of India, the Mysore Palace followed by the Nandi Hills and the Chamundeshwari temple. Also enjoy the spectacular view of Mysore from the top of the Chamundi Hills.

Day 5

MYSORE

Our day starts with a visit to Rangnathittoo Bird Sanctuary where you will take a boat ride, getting close enough to see the over 150 species of birds perched on the trees that grow along the Cauvery River. Besides its local and migratory waterfowl, the sanctuary is home to Mongoose and Macaque monkeys as well as large numbers of crocodiles.  Following our boat trip, we then visit Sri Rangapatnam, the summer capital of Tipu Sultan and the Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple.

The balance of the day is at leisure or you can go for shopping and bargain for the famous Mysore silks and souvenirs made of sandalwood and rosewood.

Day 6

MYSORE -NAGARHOLE

This morning, it is off to Nagarhole National Park, part of the greater Nilgiri biosphere consisting of 4 separate parks. The local climate supports a varied range of wildlife, especially the Asiatic Elephant as well as a healthy population of Tigers, Leopards, Sloth bear, Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Indian Bison, Wild Dogs (Dhole), Wild Boar and the rare Black Panther.

After checking in, enjoy an afternoon boat safari on the Kabini River which runs through this park, and where there will be opportunity to see herds of elephant, deer and other species of mammals and birds.

Day 7

NAGARHOLE

Enjoy morning and afternoon safaris in the Park either by 4×4 jeep or by Canter (an open bus that seats up to 20 passengers) or you could enjoy another boat safari on Kabini River.
Day 8

NAGARHOLE -BANDIPUR

Today we leave for Bandipur National Park, one of India’s first Tiger reserves.  On arrival and after checking in, enjoy an afternoon jeep safari exploring the diverse flora and fauna of the Park which will inspire you with its awesome beauty.

Day 9

BANDIPUR

Enjoy early morning and afternoon safaris in the Park either by 4×4 jeep or by Canter.

Day 10

BANDIPUR -OOTY

After breakfast, we head off to Ooty.  Nicknamed Queen of the Hills, it lies in the Nilgiri Mountains and was once a popular summer hill station retreat during British Raj. Today it is famous for its stunning vistas and lush tea plantations.  The balance of the day is free to relax.

Day 11

OOTY -COONOOR -OOTY

Following breakfast, we drive down to Coonoor or Mettupalyam to take an uphill ride on the historical Nilgiri Mountain Toy Train to Ooty. After lunch we explore some of the other interesting places of this hill resort such as visiting a tea estate and a tea processing factory, a famous Botanical garden, and Ooty’s highest peak, Dodabetta, offering superb views of the valley.

Day 12

OOTY - KOCHI

This morning, driving south-west, we reach Kochi, formerly known as Cochin, the cultural capital of Kerala.  Serving as the gateway to Kerala, a state renowned for its spices, tea and coconut groves, Cochin has a rich history and unique culture.

On arrival, check in to the hotel, where the balance of the day is free.

Day 13

KOCHI

Our morning sightseeing tour of Cochin includes visiting the Mattancherry Dutch Palace, St Francis Church and the Jewish Synagogue as well as seeing the iconic Chinese Fishing nets that are still in use on the Arabian Sea coast.  The afternoon is at leisure allowing time to explore on your own before enjoying a live performance at Kathkali Dance theatre this evening.

Day 14

KOCHI - BACKWATERS HOUSEBOAT

After a leisurely morning, we transfer you to Allapuzha (Alleppey) to board a houseboat, a signature experience for exploring Kerala’s vast backwaters and to learn about the culture, which revolves around it. Enjoy the balance of the day floating through the meandering backwaters of this vast lake before anchoring for the night.

Day 15

BACKWATER -KOCHI - ONWARD DESTINATION

Following breakfast on board, your cruise continues passing by lush green spice plantations and local villages.  Disembarking at about 11.00am, we drive you back to Cochin airport for your onward flight to your next destination.
