ITINERARY | PREFERRED HOTELS

Day 1

ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Arriving at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be met and greeted by our representative. After a short briefing we transfer you to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive, enjoy an afternoon tour of Kathmandu City, which will include Durbar Square, the Temple of the Living Goddess (Kumari Temple), the Royal Palace and Kasthamandap – a monument built from the trunk of a single tree from which the name of the city Kathmandu is derived.

Day 2

KATHMANDU

Today is devoted to visiting the local UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Durbar Square of Hanuman Dhoka, Patan and Bhaktapur City, the Buddhist stupa of Bauddhanath and the Hindu temples of Pashupati Nath and Changu Narayan.

Towards the end of the day, visit Swayambhunath situated on a hilltop, offering breathtaking view of Kathmandu Valley.

Day 3

KATHMANDU -BHARATPUR -CHITWANNATIONALPARK

Following breakfast, we take a short flight to Bharatpur where you are met and transferred to your hotel situated on the edge of the Chitwan National Park. Later this afternoon enjoy a wildlife safari on elephant back in search of the Asian One-horned Rhinoceros. Chitwan National Park is known for its tropical, creeper-clad forests, great meandering rivers and lush seas of tall elephant grass. It is home to the rich and diverse wildlife of Nepal such as the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Gaur (bison), as well as four species of deer, two species of monkeys, crocodiles, various other reptiles and Gharial, another indigenous member of the crocodile family. The Park is also home of over 650 species of birds. Accommodation: At your selected hotel – 2 nights.

Day 4

CHITWANNATIONALPARK

Early this morning take another elephant back safari, penetrating deep into the dense grasslands in search of Rhinos and other mammals. Returning to the lodge for breakfast, enjoy the remainder of the morning at leisure. If you wish, you can visit the elephant stables, where a naturalist will talk about elephants. In the afternoon we’ll take a jeep safari to the Narayani River to embark on a boat excursion in search of Gharial, Mugger crocodiles, Freshwater Dolphins, Otters and various water birds. Disembarking at a different part of the river, you can choose to travel back to the lodge on elephant back, by jeep or with a guided on a nature walk.

Day 5

CHITWANNATIONALPARK -LUMBINI

Enjoy a final safari to see some more wildlife of the park, before leaving for Lumbini (approx. 150 km/3½ hrs), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later today, you will visit Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, the Sacred Pond, Eternal Peace Flame and some ancient archaeological ruins. Lumbini also has many Buddhist temples built by different nations and named after the countries.

Day 6

LUMBINI -POKHARA

Today we drive to Pokhara (approx. 200 km/5-6 hrs), a small town located in the Western Himalayas. During the drive, especially on clear winter days after rains, you can get clear view of Fishtail Peak.

Day 7

POKHARA

Today take a 1-hour hike to the village of Sarangkot with its dramatic mountain views of the Annapurna Range. Later, after returning to Pokhara, you will visit such popular places of interest as the Mahendra Cave, Devi’s fall, Seti River Gorge, World Peace Pagoda, the Old Town, Bindebasini and Barahi Temples, followed by a boat ride on Phewa Lake

Day 8

POKHARA -KATHMANDU

We conclude the Nepal voyage with a short flight back to Kathmandu, where the balance of the day is at leisure to explore the city on your own.

Day 9

KATHMANDU - ONWARD DESTINATION

After breakfast, and weather permitting, there is an optional Mount Everest flight, which is of approximately 1 hour in duration which takes you close to Everest’s peak as well as some of the other high peaks of Himalayas in this area.

Later in the day, you will be transferred to airport for your onward flight back home.
